We have been watching A Bugs Life recently, or Baby Bug as Easton calls it. Turns out that when the grasshoppers say they'll be back at the end of the summer- its true. I am amazed in a disgusted kind of way at the number and size of the bugs we are dealing with in our yard. We back up to a field so I know that makes it worse, but oh my word. I can't walk through the grass without 2 and 3 inch long grasshoppers jumping out of my way. I am terrified of them come to find out. During our errands yesterday I found one had gotten in our van and was sitting on our dash. Uggghhh! I screamed and then froze. How was I supposed to get rid of it without having it jump on me- those things are really jumpy. I found some wipes and tried to catch it- no luck. It jumped into my purse which I pushed to the other side of the van and watch warily for the whole drive home. Luckily when I got home I was able to shoo it away out the passenger door. So unexpectedly terrifying.
Anywas today I tried to be nice/fun Mom and take the kids outside. We got bowls of ice cubes to play with and fruit loops to snack on. Before I even sat down in the grass I felt something giant crawling up my leg. I don't even want to know what it was, but I am guessing a Daddy Long Leg or the enormous Praying Mantis we found next. He is pictured below. I had almost had it when I then saw a different giant spider crawling up Keslers leg. Another scream or two later and we were back in the house. I just can't take it. I had the hebbie jebbies for the next half hour and did not feel better until I had showered.
I just cannot do these bugs. I really really hope that plague doesn't come back- I am feeling for those Egyptians today.

alot of people in our neighborhood have chickens & apparently they eat the grasshoppers
Eww! Thanks for reminding me why I live in Las Vegas! A 2-3 inch grasshopper in my purse(or any bug for that matter), that's the stuff nightmares are made of! Yuck!
