Week 2

It has been a surreal last week and a half. What an amazing whirlwind. Its hard to believe we are already parents but in other ways I can't believe its only been 11 days. My mom had to leave Tuesday which was hard on everyone. Luckily I am headed to Missouri in a few weeks so that is something to look forward to. Wednesday was a let down day because of that and also because Soren found out he didn't get the job. It was quite a shocker and a big disappointment for him. He really wanted that job. So its back to studying and job huntingh. We are still trying to keep a good attitude about it all. Otherwise we are doing great. We love Easton and feel so blessed. It has been really nice to have Soren home and he has enjoyed it.

We Picked A Name!

After much deliberation we have finally settled on a name for 'baby'...

Easton Russell Nickels

He is the perfect baby: slept all day yesterday and today and only ate every 3 hours last night. We'll see how long that continues.....

Other awesome news is that Soren had a great interview with Eddie Bauer on Tuesday and they called him today to arrange two more interviews for tomorrow. Things are looking very up! We can't believe how many blessings keep arriving.....but my favorite is Easton.

Baby is here!!!!!!!!!!!!

………And in this corner, weighing in at 8 pounds three ounces, the newly arrived diaper-weight champion of the world...Easton Russell Nickels!! That’s right! We had our baby….on Mother’s Day!!!

Kilee and Baby are both doing great! Kilee was absolutely amazing! This morning she started having hard contractions when she woke up at 6:45 am. She was dilated to a full six when we arrived at the hospital at 10:15 am. After that things progressed so quickly that there was no time for anesthetics, because just two hours later at 12:17 pm our boy was born! Everything went beautifully! Kilee was so brave! After his heel pricks, bright lights, bath, and people touching him all over, he has been calm most of the afternoon. We’re trying to get him to nurse but having difficulty. Kilee said, “he just wants to sleep with his face smashed against my boob.” Sounds about right. He has the greatest mom in the world!
Well lets, see…details: He is 20.75 inches long with a red chubby face and thin dark hair. I just love him. I got to change the first diaper and take him around the hospital while nurses had to do things, so we got some good father/son time. We’re friends.

So, here are some pictures. Thank you to all our friends who have been so nice to Kilee! We just love you all and are so grateful to know so many amazing people!

Other updates: I have a job interview early this week with the finance department at the Eddie Bauer headquarters in Bellevue, WA. It’s a great job opportunity so we’re really excited and hopeful.

Thanks again and tell Kilee how great she looks!!!
